Create a quiz assignment

This article is for teachers with a Google Workspace for Education account. If you don't know your Google Workspace account, ask your administrator.

You can create a quiz assignment in Classroom where students complete and submit a Google Forms quiz. You lot can assign the quiz assignment to one or more classes or to private students, schedule it to mail later, add a due date and time, and add attachments.

Google Forms tin can automatically class the quiz and you can import the grades into Classroom. Students tin can see their grades immediately or after you lot review their answers. You can also lock a quiz on Chromebooks managed by your schoolhouse.

  1. Click the classand then Classwork.

Lock a quiz on Chromebooks

If students are using Chromebooks managed by your schoolhouse, y'all tin can lock the Chromebook while they take a quiz. When the Chromebook is locked, students tin't open other browser tabs. Y'all'll become an email if a student exits the Forms quiz and so reopens it. Unmanaged devices tin can't admission the Forms quiz.

Create a quiz confirmation bulletin

  1. In Forms, open a quiz.
  2. Click Settings "" and then Presentation.
  3. Under Confirmation message, enter your text and click Save.

Alter the point value for questions

The point value for questions is automatically set to zero. To change the default point value for questions:

  1. In Forms, open a quiz.
  2. At the elevation, click More "" and then Preferences.
  3. If you want to alter the default value for all questions in the quiz, check the Default quiz point value box, enter a value, and click Salvage.
  4. If you want to change the indicate value for a question:
    1. On the question, click Answer fundamental.
    2. Enter the value and click Done.

Allow students to upload files in a quiz

Import quiz grades from Forms to Classroom

To import grades:

  • The quiz must be the only attachment on the consignment.
  • Students are express to one response and must be in the same domain as the teacher.
  • The form must collect pupil email addresses.

If you change any of these settings or edit the consignment after y'all save or post it, y'all might not be able to import grades.

Tip: If y'all attach a form as a link in Classroom, you tin can't import pupil grades.

Import quiz grades

When you lot import grades, all grades are imported. Yous can't select some grades to import. When you import the grades, the import overrides any electric current grades for the assignment. Therefore, if the Forms quiz is only i office of an consignment, import the quiz grades first.

To import grades:

  1. Click a classand then Classwork.
  2. Click the assignment with the quizand then View Assignment.
  3. On the Pupil Work page, click Import Grades.

    Note: If you lot don't meet Import grades, your form wasn't gear up as a quiz or you lot didn't turn on Course importing when you created the consignment.

  4. Click Import.

Classroom enters grades for each student. If you didn't assign points, the assignment is labeled ungraded.

Change grades after import

The grades in Forms and Classroom are separate. If you change the grades in Forms subsequently you lot import them to Classroom, click Import grades to bring the new grades into Classroom and overwrite the previous grades.

Come across student answers and return grades

  1. Click the classand then Classwork.
  2. On the quiz assignment, click the quiz attachment.

To return grades to students:

  1. Click the classand then Classwork.
  2. Click the quiz assignment.
